Healing food, communities & landscapes

We offer nutritious, delicious food that doesn't cost the Earth.  We farm using holistic, proactive biological methods, using Organic Standards as the starting point.

Single-source origin, grass-finished organic meats

Next level delicious, nutritious meat with a genuine background you can trust.

Origin

What we do at MROF: our meat comes from animals born & bred by us on our award-winning pastures.  Home farm & our leased land is in Rosa Brook, and yearly we agist cattle in the ag plots at the Witchcliffe Eco Village.

Why this matters: unfortunately the real origin of meat does not always align with the pretty story spun to sell it.  In the livestock industry, many animals change hands & farms.  Often we see narratives that don't genuinely match up; with some animals being bred & raised elsewhere under different conditions, but being sold under the same marketing label.  This is a red flag, as often the agricultural practices and animal husbandry on the cow/calf breeder operations and the backgrounder farms are different from the end farm selling the story & the meat.

Ask your farmer: Do you breed & personally raise the ALL the meat you sell?

Feed

What we do at MROF: our beef and lamb is 100% grass-fed & grass-finished.  Just as nature intended.

We keep our beef cattle until they are 2 years old, when the meat is more flavourful.  Grass finished beef takes longer to produce and yields less meat, so it is more expensive than grain-finished beef (usually slaughtered at 12+ months).

Why this matters: ruminants (e.g. cattle & sheep) stomachs are not designed to eat grains.  Grain-fed cattle are usually 'finished' at feedlots.  Often 'grass-fed' cattle are also given grain supplements at 'finishing' stage, to bulk them up & give a higher meat yield.

Ask your farmer: Do you feed any grain or 'finishing pellets'?

Medication

What we do at MROF: all our meat is completely intervention free.  Because we run a healthy organic system, we do not need (or want!) to use any drenches, hormones, antibiotics, vaccines including mRNA or synthetic feed additives such as Bovaer.

Why this matters: Bio-accumulation is real, and medicines affect the animal, their meat & ultimately the consumer.

Ask your farmer: Do you drench? Do you vaccinate? Do you use antibiotics?  What routine medications do your animals get (e.g. parasite treatments for chickens)?

Impact

What we do at MROF:  we work with nature to farm for the whole.  The priority is nurturing our livestock, allowing them to live their best lives, but we are also in the business of regenerating the land, because it's all connected!  When you have healthy soils and water cycles, you have healthy plants, and therefore healthy animals, and ultimately healthy humans.  So every day we work to build living soils, sequester carbon, rejuvenate biodiversity, and keep our waterways & shared air clean.

As trained Holistic Managers with over a decade of experience, happily we've already doubled our soil organic carbon using just our grazing practices & select biological inputs.  Zero synthetics, zero biocides.

Why this matters: animal agriculture can harm the environment, or it can heal.  What we eat shouldn't cost the Earth.

Ask your farmer: how much recovery time do your paddocks get between grazings?

Do you use any bio-cides (killers of life such as pesticides, herbicides & fungicides)?

Do you use any synthetic inputs?

Thank you for supporting our local farm to produce authentically clean, green meat.  By nourishing yourself with this healthy protein, you're also healing country.

We are primarily protein farmers, but we do share our garden's surplus abundance, and sometimes we share other Organic farmer friends' produce too.  Please visit our shop to see what's in season now.

Every meal we eat, we vote for the

kind of world we want to inhabit.

The ripple effects go much wider than just supporting local organic farmers looking after our backyards with ethical, regenerative methods...

All of our farm inputs; our chook grain, our soil amendments etc, must be approved organic, as must all of our suppliers' inputs in turn.

Whenever you buy organic, you are supporting the wider movement.

For example, our eggs and pasta play a small but significant part in helping the growth of Western Australia's organic grain industry!  We're supporting thousands of hectares of wheat and lupins in WA's Wheatbelt to be grown without toxic chemicals or GMOs.

This benefits our biodiversity, our water catchments and the air we share.

As well as benefiting our own health because toxins fix in living tissues. Toxin bio-accumulation (build-up of chemicals such as those found in non-organic stock feed or medicines) mean industrial poisons can persist in food-chains and the ecosystem as a whole, which has been shown to directly affect human health.

We are what we eat, eats, eats

By choosing organics, we're all contributing to a bigger picture.

Our food choices today contribute to all our tomorrows!

Thank you for caring about your health & the health of our environment.

Together we're creating a new paradigm!

We pay respects to the Traditional Owners, the Wadandi people & recognise their connections to country, waterways and culture.

We feel privileged to learn from them & strive to walk gently in the footsteps of those who have nurtured this land before us.
